Did you buy something from a Walmart while you were out of town and wonder if you can return it at your local Walmart? Or any Walmart, for that matter?
In this article, we will cover everything you need to know about returning items to a different Walmart than the one where you made the purchase.
You can return items to any Walmart. However, it is required that Walmart should stock the item you want to return. For example, you can’t return tires to a Walmart without an Auto Care Center. Certain items can’t be returned, such as prescription medications and trading cards.
- Walmart allows the return of items purchased at their store to any Walmart store within the U.S.
- The Walmart store you want to return the item to should have that item in their inventory.
- Not all items can be returned to a Walmart store different from the store where you made your purchase.
If you’d like to know if you can return an item to a different Walmart without a receipt, what items cannot be returned, and whether you can return an item you purchased from Walmart USA to Walmart Canada, keep reading.
Walmart’s return policy requires you to return items to any Walmart store with purchase receipts.
However, if you don’t have a receipt, you may be able to return an item but only after a refund verification process.
Walmart’s customer service or store management carries out refund verification for returned items without receipts. Walmart also introduced an automated verification system that may decline or accept your return request without a receipt.
You can process three returns without a receipt in six months, even if you go to a different store.
If you want to return a no-receipt item to another Walmart store (or even the same store), you must present a valid government-issued ID and pass the refund verification process.
Once you pass the verification process, you can request an exchange (if eligible) or a refund.
If you don’t pass the verification process or are required to present your receipt, you can look up your Walmart receipt online or call Walmart’s Electronic Payment Hotline at 479-277-2643. This works if you bought the item using a credit or debit card.
If you bought the item using cash, it might become increasingly difficult to retrieve your lost receipts. However, if you can provide the necessary information, Walmart customer service may be able to retrieve your lost receipts.
Note that you can only retrieve receipts from the store where you bought the item.
